Party Time in the Factory

This time taking our usual walk in the factory feels like it is a party time. There seems to be many party dresses, homecoming dresses, club dress and cocktail dresses being made. Perhaps it is due to the cup day and horse races events that usually appear around in Spring. Likely it is due to the end of the year coming and every one is getting ready to welcome the New Year looking their best.

Party style dresses generally have many embellishments adorned on the dress to add the glitter and effects onto the dress. These are all all hand sown on and no doubt it is a time consuming process. Each dress looks is artistic in its own way. It is definitely exciting to watch the adornments being added onto the dress and seeing the dresses slowly transformed into a stunning dress.

This is a Party Dress made where the customer wanted it in this special peachy colour. The truth be told this dress looks good in any colour. From the greens to the oranges all the way to the reds, purples and yellows.
The customer who order this dress requested for special attention around the bust line and the waist line as she wanted a comfortable fit and to highlight the curve varations from the bust line to the waist line.

This dress is nearly completed and probably would be finished by the next day. Later this dress will be passed onto the quality control team to inspect the dress along with the order and ensure that it has met the dressOfLOVE standards. From there it will be shipped to the customer.

Buying Dresses Online using Cash Payments

Some customers have contacted us stating that they do not have Credit Cards or a Debit Card linked online to make purchases from the dressOfLOVE online store. And would like an alternative form to purchase dresses online.

As a result of this we have added a new payment method from our online store which is Western Union. This means that you have an option to pay for dresses without the need to have a Credit Card or Debit Card linked online for making purchases. Western Union is the easy way to send cash money form and supports a wide range of currencies and countries. In addition

Western Union also allows payments to be sent online through their website or alternatively via one of the many Western Union store outlets. This makes it convenient to send money if you do not have a Credit Card or Debit Card for purchases online.

Currently our online store supports multiple payment forms (in which you can select your preferred payment method upon checkout) which are:
  1. Payments via Credit Card payments (via PayPal).
  2. eCheques (via PayPal).
  3. Directly from your bank account (account linked with PayPal).
  4. PayPal funds.
  5. Wire Transfer to our bank account.
  6. Cash & Wire Transfers via Western Union.
You can read more information about payments at dressOfLOVE by visiting the how to pay for dresses link.

Let's take a Factory Walk!

As mentioned in our earlier blog post - we mentioned that we would write more blog posts featuring factory visits. After all it is one way for us to show case some of our products and show you what we have been doing.

It is always exciting seeing the process of products being custom made from the sourcing of the materials, seeing material being cut and then turned into the finished product.

What caught our attention today was this beautiful delicate Veil being made. This one caught our attention because of the lovely flowers being added onto the Veil. It was simple but the effect was impressive. We had to stop and take a closer look.

The flowers were being hand stitched onto the the Veil and great care was taken in order not to damage the Veil itself in the process. In this Veil the flowers were added in clusters of threes.

In general adornments onto Veils is not uncommon and it is a matter of personal preference as to what adornments should be used onto a Veil. Usually Veil adornments are subtle and chosen in such a way to complement the Wedding dress itself.

This Veil was white in colour and has a borders to enhance the visual effects and highlighting where the Veil ends. This type of Veil comes in the choice of White or Ivory.

We wanted to stay longer to admire the Veil. However, the worker wanted to finish the Veil before lunch so we left the dress maker to complete the Veil.

Stay tuned for another factory visit soon...

We Listen to Customer Feedback

We are excited to write this article because it is a direct result of feedback that we have received over last month. It seems several visitors have suggested different ideas which are broken down into the following:
  1. Show which items have free shipping.
  2. Have requested where the reviews or customer testimonials are located for viewing.
  3. Asked us to clearly show which items are on discount or currently have a sale on.
Your Feedback
We have taken all the feedback suggested and  as a result have updated the way dressOfLOVE presents the information. In doing this we aim to make it easier to quickly source all the information easily.

Changes to the information presented is as follows:
  1. Shipping:
All items that have free shipping or free postage will have a green airplane displayed in the bottom right corner of the product listing. Be sure to read the dressOfLOVE terms and conditions on free shipping and free postage.
  2. Reviews / Testimonials:
We do not have a website page dedicated to customer reviews or customer testimonials. Instead we have opted that the reviews and customer testimonials should be attached to the product itself.
  3. Discount / On Sale:
All items "On Sale" will have the words written "On Sale!" before the price of the item. In addition the actual discount percentage will be shown in a red circle on the top right hand corner. This allows you to easily determine what the savings are during the sale period. After the sale period ends the price will revert to the usual price. We've had additional suggestions that we should clearly show how long the sale is in effect for and when it ends. We are currently working on this feature and hope to have an update in the near future.
Your Feedback
Further feedback can be submitted to us via: http://www.dressoflove.com/contact-us. We take all feedback seriously and it is part of our continuous cycle to improve our products and services. We encourage all forms of feedback.

Random Dress in the Factory

Let's face it. Taking a daily walk into the factory can be exciting. The buzz of seeing the dresses being made and materialising directly from the fabric, being cut, all the way to the to the end product. It is an exciting process. No doubt about it.

Today we have taken a random photo on one dress that we walked past because this dress caught our attention with the beautiful applique being added to the dress. It is a time consuming process to add the applique but it is an important step as this transforms a dress from a simple and plain in style to something that is stunningly elegant.

This is a Wedding Dress made using a Satin fabric. The customer wanted the Wedding Dress to be made in the colour Silver. Whilist this dress looks good in White, Ivory and Champagne colours. Other colours for this dress design is possible although much rare to see customers requesting for the unusual colours such as various pink colours.

The customer who ordered this requested specific alterations to be made for perfect fit around the hip area. Care has been taken to ensure that the customer's request has been met.

The dress will be completed over the next day and passed onto the quality control team to inspect the dress along with the order to ensure that the dress satisfies the dressOfLOVE standard.Once audit has been passed the dress can finally be shipped to the customer.

It is at this stage we feel the happiest knowing that we will be a part of the customer's Wedding Day by providing a beautiful custom made Wedding Dress to be worn on their most special and memorial day.

WHAT DRESS BACK CLOSURE SHOULD I CHOOSE? LACE-UP VERSES ZIP-UP / BUTTONS

When picking or designing your dress it is often difficult to decide how the back closure of the dress should be. Back closures of the dresses can be an open back (where you can see the back) or closed via zipper, buttons or lace-up styles.

There is no right or wrong in choosing your dress back closure type. The most important point is for you to choose something that you feel comfortable wearing and what suits you most.

Some dress designers feel that for formal wear such as evening and wedding gowns the back closure should be on the back of the dress (as opposed to the front of the dress) as this allows the front of the dress to be a solid piece which is pleasing to the eye without being distractive by the clutter of the straps or fasteners that holds the dress together.

However, for the obvious reasons the fasteners at the back of the dress may be difficult to reach when wearing the dress and often may require another person to help you to close up dress closure.

We hope to cover some of the differences on the lace-up and zipper / button back closures along with some discussions on the advantages and disadvantages.

Lace-Up Back Closures

Dress Lace-UP Generally, for most people the lace-up closure looks appealing to the eye. For some dresses it really adds to the elegance and style of the dress it self. For others, it reminds them of a corset and for that reason do not find the lace-up appealing.

With the lace-up back closure the most important factor is that you can change the size of the bodice and waist by loosening or tightening the laces at the back of the dress. This concept is has a similar analogy to wearing lace style shoes (i.e. shoes with shoe laces). If you happen to hurt your foot and your foot is slightly swollen you still can wear your shoes by altering the lacing so that it stretches around the foot for a better fit depending on how much slack you apply to the lace.

Many ladies find this style of dress more comfortable to wear and perhaps feel more at ease wearing a dress in this style in planning ahead for a big event because there is no need to be concerned regarding body weight fluctuations prior to the event. Generally the dress will still fit well depending on how you tighten or slacken the lacing at the back of the dress. The same could not be said regarding the zipper or button back closures (see below).

In addition the lace-up back closure has the back panel in which hides your skin or undergarments. However, some dresses have the in built bra padding (i.e. bra built into the dress) and in this case the undergarment are not needed. In this instance you may choose to leave out the back panel which means your back can be visible through the lacing. Depending on the dress this can be appealing and seductive and ideal for summery events.

The down side to lace-up back closures is that it is difficult to lace up yourself when wearing the dress and you may need another person to help you lace up the dress.

In addition the cost for adding the lace-up is generally more costly than a zipper or button style dress. However, at dressOfLOVE we do not charge any extras for lace-up back closures.

Zipper / Button Back Closures

Dress Zipper For some dresses the zipper (or hidden zipper) and button back closures make the dress look more delicate and pretty. This is because the dress has a cleaner look to the back as there is no laces. For some this may be considered as being more traditional and classic.

For the zipper back closure it may be easier to unzip and remove dress unassisted. However, depending on the number of buttons and positioning the use of buttons on the back closure may require some assistance in undoing and removing the dress.

The most important and critical point on the zipper / button back closure is the measurements really needs to be spot on. Any weight fluctuation before the big event can be disastrous as the dress can be too loose or too tight.

Do not make the mistake in trying the dress on many weeks to the big event and satisfied that you have a perfect fit and all will be well on your big event day. Truth is that you may be excited or stressed out prior to your event and have weight alterations which no doubt will impact on the fitting on the dress on the actual day. For this reason this is why many ladies prefer the lace-up back closure.

At dressOfLOVE we require you to provide the adequate measurements that we require so we can make the dress to fit you perfectly (see our custom size charts). Do take care when taking the measurements and do not rush this important process. In addition, all dresses are made in such a way to allow for alterations to be performed if necessary.

The only downside on the zipper or button back closure is that it does not really offer any way to show off your back skin if this is what you desire.

Conclusion

There is no right or wrong in whether the lace-up or zipper / button back closures is the better or worse choice.

It all depends on the dress design and what you feel most comfortable wearing and what suits you best. We have covered some of the advantages and disadvantages on the different points and interested to hear your feedback and comments if you have anything to add to this article.

At dressOfLOVE when buying a dress online at http://www.dressoflove.com we allow you to select your preferred preference on the dress back closure. In this way you can have choice to decide which back closure will work best for you and the dress.
